Good heavens the sun rays and the waterfall and this COVID halted wedding – you can’t make this stuff up.
Man oh man. I’ve always been a believer that comparing our circumstances to that of another only diminishes the struggle (or the joy) of any party involved. We all feel and experience at our own pace and in our own way.
That being said, there are numerous COVID struggle stories from all the world’s 2020 couples. We now have the #CovidBride or the #CovidWedding storyline; generally involving a number of hoops to jump through in order to let that wedding happen.
Bre + Dixon are feeling it for sure. Today would be their wedding day.
The couple met while Bre was working in Costa Rica with the Peace Corps. A match made in heaven + later they began making wedding plans. Dixon, being Venezualan, was working on his Visa to get married in the states – in Bre’s hometown of John Day, OR. Then the whole world came to a halt.
Now, no visas are being processed (or are on at least a 4 month delay) and borders are closed to travel. So they FaceTime, watch Netflix movies together + send each other meals through Uber Eats… all the while, biding their time until they can be together again – face to face.
“COVID has been terrible. We’re much more emotional than we would have been if the timeline had gone according to plan, and feeling intense longing every day is more than hard. But I know I’ve learned a lot about the strength of our resolve and our commitment to one another. I think when you know it’s a good fit, it just works, no matter what. I’m really thankful that Dixon is the person God had in store for me, he’s the biggest blessing I ever could’ve asked for.” – Bre
Bre + I headed up the mountainside to the site of her would-be-wedding. We shot some impromptu portraits at one of her favorite locations in the world – the Strawberry Mountains.
