I attempted my first mini-session day and man, you studio photographer’s out there – I don’t know how you do it! The typical Washington weather [rainy leading up to the day and sunny when you’ve already moved indoors] kept us from using the Christmas tree farm as planned and we moved inside to a little Christmas set up that my amazing parents helped me put together… Eventually – I’ll have to buy some indoor portrait equipment – but for now, we’ll make do with what we’ve got.
Being indoors in a small space almost made me feel claustrophobic. I’m a natural light photographer and lifestyle shoots are up there next to the top in favorite sessions to shoot. Natural. Letting children be “wild in their own habitat” and not confined to a 10×10 space.
But that’s one of the things I love about photography. You’re never done. You’ve never learned as much as you can and there is always something you haven’t tried. And even after you’ve attempted it – it’s far from perfected.
All of that to say – I had some amazingly beautiful and fun families to photograph and the day was a ton of fun. I came home and my husband said, “You should do another one next weekend.”
Nope.
But maybe next Holiday season…
Here are some of my faves.
